Barbara Walters hospitalized with chickenpox

NEW YORK (AP) - Barbara Walters would probably like to hit the reset button on 2013.
She's got the chickenpox and remains hospitalized more than a week after going in after falling and hitting her head at a pre-inaugural party in Washington on Jan. 19. A fellow host on the "The View," Whoopi Goldberg, said Monday that Walters has been transferred to a New York hospital and hopes to go home soon.
"She's been told to rest. She's not allowed any visitors," Goldberg said. "And we're telling you, Barbara, no scratching!"
The 83-year-old news veteran, who underwent heart surgery in May 2010, apparently avoided a disease that hits most people when they are children. It can be serious in older people because of the possibility of complications like pneumonia.
Even after concern about her fall had subsided, Walters had been kept hospitalized last week because of a lingering fever, and doctors found the unexpected cause.
"We love you, we miss you," Goldberg said on "The View," in a message to the show's inventor. "We just don't want to hug you."

It's amazing that she made it to 83 years old, in a lifestyle that has her around people constantly, without ever getting the chicken pox. Chicken pox is worse the older you are when you get it and is no joke.
That's no joke. I had chicken pox when I was 30 years old and I was SICK...
@SheilaKA I had it at 23 and was never more miserable in my life.  I hope she pulls thru!
Double whammy, sounds absolutely miserable, poor lady. Â Hope she'll be OK.
As I read the comments after this article, It's sad to see how rude people can be. What has this woman ever done to you people besides be successful in her career and make herself rich? If this was one of the male newscasters  the comments would be totally different, no doubt. I know Barbara will never see these comments, but I hope she recovers fully from the chickenpox and lives out the rest of her life in the comfort she has earned.
That is just a false story, she is really in for another round of plastic surgery to cover up that nasty gash on her forehead.
She ain't no spring chicken, something like this could take her out.
She probably has Shingles. Whether they are Cedar shake, composition or steel, tiles who cares.Â
So she never had Chickenpox when she was a child??? If she did have Chickenpox (Â varicella-zoster) in the past then what she has now is Shingles (Herpes-zoster)not chickenpox. Shingles comes from the Chickenpox virus but is different.Â

Â
I guess I should have read the whole story. Hey Komo can I have a job now!
What are the Vegas odds that she does not make it through the year?
@dkgiovenco Through winter more like it.
