Watch: Big Bird wings it to 'Saturday Night Live'
NEW YORK (AP) - In a week when Big Bird was in the news, it seemed fitting to find him perched at the parody news report on NBC's "Saturday Night Live."
But joining Seth Meyers at the "Weekend Update" anchor desk, the popular "Sesame Street" character declined to comment on presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's vow to cut federal funding for PBS. Explaining why, Big Bird said he didn't want to "ruffle any feathers."
He told Meyers how he had learned of being mentioned on Wednesday's debate. He said he'd gotten "a million tweets." From real birds, that is.
Since then, he said he was feeling very famous, standing tall above every other 8-foot talking bird.
In closing, Big Bird shared a joke befitting his childish sense of humor.
Question: Who like debates?
Answer: de-fishes.
It's amazing how the liberal media spring into action to make a big issue of the least relevant thing Romney said in the debate.Â
It seems to me that with all the Sesame Street merchandise sold, that they could support themselves without our tax dollars. Does anyone know how much they make annually from their merchandise?
@JUSTONEPROUDMOM Exactly Romney's point. Sesame Street is a billion dollar industry. They could support all of PBS on their earnings. The real issue is; do we want to borrow money from China and add to a $16 Trillion national debt our kids will have to pay back so we can subsidize a network that supposedly has so little commercial value that it can't support itself? The liberal media is trivializing the comment by flapping Big Bird on all the left wing shows, but if Big Bird was say, Bill Gates, would we be giving him taxpayer's money? No, I don't think so. But Big Bird IS part of a billion dollar franchise.Â
When Mitt made his comment that he would end PBS funding I was not thinking about Sesame Street, I was thinking more of NOVA and the Antiques Roadshow (two of favorite PBS shows). But soon as he mentioned Big Bird I got this visualization of Mitt's Thanksgiving table and this huge cooked bird he was about to carve.
Maybe Bo can debate the bird, seems bout even..........
"According to the 990 tax form all nonprofits are required to file, Sesame Workshop President and CEO Gary Knell received $956,513..."

So, we want to borrow to pay this 1%r's salary. And would we be so eager to fund this children's corporate juggernaut if it was a subsidiary of BAIIIIIIINNNNNN?Â
I don't think politicians like to be confused with facts and I know their blind followers don't either. Keep it up Sid.
