After a somewhat disappointing cast last season, ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" is set to return with a much more colorful cast of characters, including one very smart Seattleite.
ABC announced the Season 17 cast this morning on "Good Morning America," confirming rumors that "Mary Tyler Moore" star Valerie Harper, who has been battling brain cancer, would be joining. In addition to Harper, whose doctor stated that she is close to remission for what was initially diagnosed as a terminal brain tumor, the cast will include Ozzy Osbourne's son, Jack, "Jersey Shore"'s Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, "Showgirls" star Elizabeth Berkley, and "Glee"'s Amber Riley.
However, one of the most interesting casting choices is former Seattle resident and television personality William "Bill" Nye, also known as Bill Nye the Science Guy.
Nye tweeted the news this morning.
"It’s time for this nerd to get dancin’. O yes, season 17 of #DWTS, here I come," said the former Boeing engineer of his appearance."
Other cast members include "Pretty Little Liars" star Brant Daugherty; "High School Musical" actor Corbin Bleu; comedian Bill Engvall; former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson; actress Christina Milian; and "King of Queens" actress Leah Remini, who recently left the Church of Scientology.
