Dee Snider to Paul Ryan: Stop playing my song

Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider has asked Republican vice presidential running mate Paul Ryan's camp not to play his hit song, "We're Not Gonna Take It."
Ryan spokesman Brandon Buck wrote a pithy email in response: "We're Not Gonna Play It anymore."
Snider says in a statement that he does not support Ryan and denounced use of the song, an anthemic 1984 hit for the glam metal band.
It joins a long list of songs that musicians have asked politicians to stop using.
Most recently, the rock band Silversun Pickups asked likely Republican nominee Mitt Romney to stop using the song "Panic Switch" last week.
"We don't like people going behind our backs, using our music without asking, and we don't like the Romney campaign," Silversun Pickups lead singer Brian Aubert said in the statement.
The campaign said the song's use was completely inadvertent.

Moron ! He has no control over who plays song.
What's funny is that Paul Ryan and his people clearly don't understand the meaning of the song, and like sooo many politicians they use just one line out of context to justify thier actions.
This over the hill loser should be happy anyone still plays that song. If he wasn't such a bad sport maybe he'd get a little boost in sales from republicans.
I would be pissed too if someone chose to use my song without my permission. When a politician uses someone's song as their public anthem, they are implying that they have the support of the singer/songwriter/band who owns it.Â
 @The WA Mama I think we're all smart enough to know that's not the case. They play the song because of the message it portrays.
I think most of us are smart enough to know there are such things as copyright infringement laws and that before using a song in a public capacity, permission must be obtained by the owner of the song.Â
Me to everyone: Stop playing Twisted Sister songs.
Â
Not for any political reason, they are just musically awful.
I don't know, that stiff Paul Ryan seems to like it.
 @therunner A-M-E-NÂ
UGH! I cant stand politics! They all lie, cheat, and decieve. Politicians all pander to the media, they make empty promises to constituents and only care about lobbyists. Anyone that has any faith in any candidate and their respected party, is asleep and dreaming.
Â
Â
 @northwestsurfer You obviously do not pay that much attention.  There are some really good politicians.  Painting any group with a broad brush isn't a good idea.  Spend some time watching C-SPAN and you will see that there are some great politicians representing us.  IMHO, Bernie Sanders is the best.  sanders.senate.gov
 Dude, Romney just promised to create 3 million energy jobs. Are you suggesting he is simply saying that as a craven attempt to win votes?
Â
So cynical...
@PilonidalCyst No I beleive everything Romney says
 @northwestsurfer you should run for office :)
@T H I S Did you miss the part where i said I cant stand politics?
The song's use was completely inadvertent? Â So it accidentally shows up in commercials, at rallies, at town hall meetings, etc.? Â OK then.
Jiminy Crickets!!!!  I don't have much faith in politicians who don't secure permission/rights to play a song which is the most basic action to take. Doesn't bode well to continually overlook this and desire to RUN THE COUNTRY. Big block heads these two GOP'ers are for crikey's sake!Â
I too would have thought they would have asked permission first. They might have said yes. GOP steamroller style.
The Pubby Prezzi Candies think they are so rock and roll.
Â
Apparently not.Â
I'm not gonna listen. NO! I'm not gonna listen! We're not gonna listen to Dee ANYMORE!
@Arctic Dodge well, it seems you just did
 @Arctic Dodge
ÂGee, what do they expect? Politicians only know how to rob and steal.
Poor little loser. He could have had some free exposure. Oh well.............
@oldster70 I really think dee could care less about exposure. He already hosts a syndicated radio show. Im always amused when people like you make comments without any thought, research, or critical thinking
 @oldster70 Between Rock of Ages (Broadway not the movie with Tom Cruise, but based on your post I guess you wouldn't know that), other Broadway work, Celebrity Apprentice, his radio show, and a number of marketing enterprises - some airplay at a Ryan stump speech ain't exposure.
It's what happens when you use too many drugs, you support Obama :)
Dee Snider is and has been drug and alcohol free throughout his career. Just an FYI....
 @javajoe Its whats happens when you don't protect copyright and patent laws, you support China. They never saw a good idea they didn't want to steal.
@javajoe I do not do drugs, and I support Obama. The comments from people without education or any ability to think rationally or crtically do not cease to intrigue me
 @northwestsurfer  @javajoe You are so smart its scary.
@CrankyPanky @northwestsurfer @javajoe I know, I scare myself too
 @javajoe Is that what you see in the story? Because song writers and bands dont want to see their songs associated by a political individual, you automatically assume its because they support the political opponent? Its just as likely that he doesnt want ANY political connection with Twisted Sisters music for any reason.
Political campaigns seem short on the 'ol obtaining use permission in light of the copyright laws. Hello staffers! Is anyone out there with a brain?????
 @Citizen#3457899654 They don't have brains.
 @Citizen#3457899654 'Politics and Intelligence have nothing to do with one another' I recall someone saying that years ago.
