SEOUL, South Korea - South Korean rapper PSY's "Gangnam Style" has become YouTube's most viewed video of all time.
YouTube said in a posting on its Trends blog that "Gangnam Style" had been viewed 805 million times as of Saturday afternoon, surpassing Justin Bieber's "Baby," which has had 803 million views.
By Sunday morning, the video had surpassed 816 million views
The blog says the "velocity of popularity for PSY's outlandish video is unprecedented."
PSY's video featuring his horse-riding dance was posted on YouTube in July, while "Baby" was uploaded in February 2010.
PSY's video has become a global sensation, with many people around the world mimicking his "Gangnam Style" dance. In their October meeting, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, a South Korean, joked that he had to relinquish his title as "the most famous Korean," and tried a few of PSY's dance moves.

I must have watched this thing a hundred times now. If I had back all the time I've wasted on this...I'd waste it on something else. Funny, funny video.
Omg, I just finally heard the whole thing AND watched the video. I laughed till I snorted! That is some funny poop right there!!!! Is this for real or a spoof or what? Is there a translation somewhere?? I'm still giggling! Good stuff.
I had heard earlier in the week on THE VOICE that one of the contestant's vid had knocked this one off the #1 spot.
No dog in the hunt...just what I heard.
 @Alikelystorey You heard wrong.
I watched most of this video finally, and I honestly don't see the appeal. Sounds like an average song by an average artist with an average video. I'm not bashing it, I just completely don't understand the popularity. Can someone explain this to me? I'm absolutely baffled.
@jowsuf Stop pretending. If you don't like it you don't like it.
@Barlion Pretending? What do you mean? I don't have to like it or dislike it. I find it dull and unremarkable. Not the worst thing I've heard, but nothing out of the ordinary.
@jowsuf How do you NOT get it? It's a funny Korean video that Americans don't understand with a catchy beat and new dance. You don't have to like the song or the video, but to not understand why it's so popular is just you putting on your blinders. It's not hard to understand.
@Ethan Allen How is the video funny? I truly don't understand. ANY song in this genre has a catchy beat. New dance? I'm sorry, I just don't get it. Everything about it is mediocre to me. There is nothing notable or groundbreaking about this video. It sounds more like a word of mouth thing that only spread because people were talking about it because they heard someone else talking about it. A snowball effect of attention over something unremarkable.Â
For more laughs check out the "Mitt Romney Style" parody on youtube. Also check out "Old people react to gangnam style". Both had me laughing pretty good.
I'm tired of video/songs promoting some guys platform, world peace, ending hunger, pollution, abuse, anti war, anti GMO--whatever. Enough angst and guilt. This guy looks like he has a sense of humor and doesn't take himself seriously. Every time I see him gallop across the intersection it makes me laugh.
It's all in good fun. Â When you can get my spouse, who dances like he has fused hip sockets, up and doing that dance, that's priceless. Â Nice that it's made so many people laugh. whether they saw the video or someone trying to do the dance.
Would be interesting to know if the "plays" are because it's actually liked or just viewed because it's beyond tacky?
Meh,
it looks like 1985 caught up to South Korea.Â
This is the exact video that Rick Ashley, Falco, and The Bangals would have made if they did a team
Â
I prefere The Han Solo version of Gangham Style.

I can live with that... Andd seeing what it beat I'm really happy about that!
God help us...
I think its amazing that he was able to break into the American market with a non-English song. That is notoriously difficult to do. Do I like the song or the dance? Not really, but I love a success story.
apparently komo's reporters are also redditors...
