Harrison Ford on reprising the role of Han Solo: 'I think it's happening'

It's not quite a done deal yet, but Harrison Ford told a reporter on the red carpet recently that he was pretty sure that the old cast would be reuniting for the recently-announced final chapters of the Star Wars franchise. And yes, he is planning to reprise the role of that scruffy-looking nerf-herder, Han Solo.
Speaking to WGN9, Ford cautioned that while the entire cast list isn't "in the bag" just yet, he was "looking forward to it."
The latest installment of the billion-dollar franchise made headlines when Disney purchased Lucasfilm, causing fans to worry about the fate of future films. However, Disney has promised to go "all in" on the films, and has released statements about remaining dedicated to the legacy.
Episode VII is slated for release in 2015, but that isn't stopping critics and fans from speculating about who may or may not be getting a role. So far, original cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels (who played C3PO) are all rumored to be on board.
Thats all the fans want, real live action Star Wars movies. Not saturday morning cartoons, books or video games. Im glad George steeped down and let someone else carry it on.
Looking forward to this movie! Last movie I saw was the Star Wars with the kids. My wife still thinks Harrison Ford is hot. And I still KNOW she is hot!  (Maybe I can get some brownie points for this?)
Just my opinion, but right now, Mark Hamill looks a lot like William Shatner.
Fisher could play Jaba's sister? Its hard to believe its really the same person. Too much twinkies, alcohol, ....
@Andrew Pollow First off, way to be nice and shallow.  Second, there is plenty of time for her to diet and exercise if that's what the role calls for.
@doubleoevan @Andrew Pollow You can't diet and exercise away thirty years of extra hard living. But to be fair, looking at the way she's been dressing up as Leia (I guess she can't move on or let go) she won't look all that bad in the role. Grandma Leia?
It's a win win for Disney. People will go just to get the old feelings back from the original films. And yes that is the baby boomers, largest audience in that age group ever. Personally I thought the last films were garbage.
@Grumpa You can never get that same feeling back we experienced from the first three films. They were the perfect combination of cutting edge effects technology, great screenwriting and good acting in the beginning of believable sci-fi movies era. It was new, exciting and well done. Now we expect that absolutely anything can be done with CGI so how can we recapture that same magic?
That would be sweet for the old cast to be on board!
@The WA Mama I disagree. I think it's going to be awful and just be a bunch of old people hobbling around. They are trying to sell tickets based on nostalgia, rather than creating a decent movie in and of itself.
@Avalonis @The WA Mama The old cast will only have supporting roles. There will be fresh new faces to provide eye candy, but I highly doubt they can create the same feel as the first three movies. Even Lucas couldn't duplicate his original magic.
@path_tech @acepaul I agree. He got sucked into the shiny and away from the story. Pity so many people prefer the shiny.
@path_tech @acepaul It's a good thing then that Lucas isn't really involved this time around.
@acepaul   that's because Lucas sold his soul for the almighty dollar. He stopped caring about putting out a good product and was more concerned about merchandizing. Sad, really.
