Madonna calls on Boy Scouts to lift ban on gays

NEW YORK (AP) — Wearing a replica of one of the organization's uniforms, Madonna called on the Boy Scouts to lift its ban on gays while also calling for a "revolution" to prevent discrimination and abuse of the gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual community.
Speaking Saturday night at the GLAAD Media Awards, Madonna started off in a mischievous mood. She joked that she wanted to become a part of the Boy Scouts herself, but was turned down, even though she had the qualifications.
"I can build a fire. I know how to pitch a tent," said Madonna, sporting a Boy Scouts troop leader hat and a blue shirt and shorts set that included replicas of Boy Scout badges.
"I can rescue kittens from trees. . Most importantly, I know how to scout for boys," she said, before adding, "I think they should change their stupid rules."
The Boy Scouts of America does not permit openly gay people to serve in the organization — a decision that has come under increasing fire over the years.
Later, she got serious as she talked about the conflicts in the world and of the bullying of young gay, lesbian and transgender people.
"When I think about young kids in America who are being bullied and tortured, who are taking their own lives because they feel alone and judged, outcast and misunderstood, I want to sit down and cry a river of tears," Madonna said.
Noting that she has teenagers herself, she said, "It's an atrocity to me, I don't accept it."
Later she said, "I don't know about you, but I can't take this (expletive) anymore. That is why I want to start a revolution. It's 2013 people. We live in America, land of the free and home of the brave? That's a question, not a statement."
Madonna was on hand to give the Vito Russo Award to CNN anchor Anderson Cooper. She lauded Cooper for standing up for the rights of others.
Also honored by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation was the NBC musical series "Smash," the documentary "How To Survive a Plague," and "The Amazing Race." Brett Ratner was also given the Ally Award — a turnaround from 2011, when the organization condemned the director for using an anti-gay slur, and he stepped down from a plan to direct the 2012 Academy Awards in the ensuing controversy.
Since then, Ratner has worked with the organization and made a public service announcement to promote equality.

As an Eagle Scout, I have a lot of respect for people who are gay, lesbian or transgender, and have had gay and lesbian friends. However they were not involved in Scouting. The Boy Scouts were founded on high moral principles. If they believe that an organization should allow them in, they have the opportunity to start their own. And I'm keeping my Eagle badge.
The Boy Scouts can do whatever they want to do IF they stop taking freebies from the government. If they keep getting favors, like using government facilities for meetings and jamborees, then they need to open their ranks to all Americans. It seems like a simple adjustment to me, not rocket science.
I'm sure if the Boy Scouts want advice from a morally bankrupt entertainer the'll ask for it.
When I was graduating high school, a lot of boys around me were finishing their Eagle Scout projects. Many went onto to summer jobs they found through the Boy Scouts just by putting the words "Eagle Scout" on their applications. It makes me sad that when I put my boys in Cub Scouts that other moms look at me like I'm crazy like I just handed my boys over to a bunch of rapists.
With all of the negative press the Boy Scouts have, not I'm wondering if putting Eagle Scout on an application would be detrimental.
"other moms look at me like I'm crazy"
Sounds like you need new friends.... I recieved my EAGLE Scout in 1973, And WE are still respected world wide for our achievments.  And as a side note, madonna is the one you need to be weary of.. I would trust ANY Scoutmaster that I had as a Boy Scout in the scouting program, with my son.
Madonna is an old hag and should mind her own business. When I was much younger and a Boy Scout, the troop I belonged to was literally destroyed when, on a two week camp out, it became known that our scoutmaster was gay and had been sleeping with several very young scouts in his tent. Today, because of idiots like Madonna, this would be no big deal, I suppose, but in the 1950s, it was enough to put a very sad ending to what had been a very enjoyable period of my life. The scoutmaster was lucky to have escaped with his life when several fathers found out. I think there should be Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Gay Scouts and Madonna should shut the **** up.
Take note Lady Ga Ga, this can be you in 25 years.
I give Madonna the same level of attention on this issue that I give men who think they deserve some voice in abortion.....next to nothing.
The schmag ages like rancid cheese.
Not an attractive picture.
I call on all the Boy Scouts to ban Madonna!
Madonna, Madonna. Â You try so hard to be taken seriously, but when you talk rather than sing (and you really don't have that great of a voice) it just comes out wrong. Â "You can pitch a tent", well maybe you actually can. Â You are all over the place and seem to bask in the glory of any controversy that gets you publicity. Â
@keri555Â Â
My question is, why is anything this POS thinks/says deserves any attention?
People like this and the gay community demand that everybody on the entire planet embrace them and their deviant lifestyle. Madonna is a tired shrill media wh*re. Everytime a person like this blasts away with their demands they only bring more damage to the group they are trying to help.  The BSA have a right to accept or not accept whomever they choose. Why doesn't she demand that Muslim Religious Organizations hire drag queens. After all they are a religious organization getting tax breaks from the government.  The world is going to Hell more rapidly than anyone could ever have imagined. Additionally when I first saw her picture it reminded me of Uncle Milty (Milton Berle) when he was in drag. She is a train wreck.

@jdoll88 Isn't it funny how the feminist and LGBT crowd use the same tactics they preach not to engage in? It has become to popular to tell anything that's still a boys organization how to act. I  absolutely do not see female schools/ colleges and women's organizations coming under attack on how their "suppose to act."Â
Proof that not everybody can look as good as Jon Bon Jovi at 50+...
Granted the BSA is a homophobic, anti-atheist intolerant organization. Â As a private entity they can be as unenlightened and ignorant as they want to be. Â However that Hag Madonna does not even live in this country, who gives a rats a** what that sexually deviant drag queen thinks.
@TheChosen Exactly.
LOL, those scouts just might listen to the scary blond lady. She better be nice to them, it won't be long until she might need them to help her cross the street.
Yeah, like the Boy Scouts should listen to a woman who paints the name "OBAMA" on her backside for her concerts.
The Boy Scouts are a private organization and have the right to organize their membership as they please.
A much better idea would be to create a secular version of the Boy Scouts. Â There is no barrier to entry as the Scouts have no monopoly over national and state parks. Â Â
However, that would actually require dedicating some money and effort instead of just mouthing off some slactivist slogans, now wouldn't it Madonna?
@UtterReality Even if a private organization, feminist and the LGBT crowd think it's their God Given Right to impose their ideals on anything male. Aren't the Scouts forced to accept girls because some feminist got P.O.ed?Â
@UtterReality Â
But....it is so much easier to bit-- about things and think you look enlightened rather then put work into it.
And we should listen to her on this issue why? And what's with that picture? Even Betty White looks way better than her!
"Â Most importantly, I know how to scout for boys."
Except now you need a tranquilizer gun and a net. Â
(Is this what Lady Gaga will look like at 70?) Â
@Opus8no5 No, Lady Gaga will probably look like that by the time she's 40.
The problem with the gnostic crap, Kabbalah, is that Lucifer now owns her soul.  It's no surprise that she's doing his Satanic bidding.
Boy Scouts call on Madonna to stop looking like aging drag queen!
Trick or Treat
Triple bag...

Twisted Sister got back together... yes!

They need cookie drives, too...
Madonna and Donald Trump are approaching an equal level of irrelevance...
Why not compromise and shut this old hag up. Start the "Gay Scouts" and then they can have their OWN little club.
Madonna calls on world to keep giving her attention.
The old dude in the lipstick seems mad about something...
@farmerbear Silence Infidel! That's the Late Great, Bette Davis. Have some respect for your elders.
@Getov Mylon @farmerbear When you're right, you're right. She's got Betty Davis thighs.
