Nielsen says 51.4 million watch VP debate

NEW YORK (AP) - Paul Ryan debating Joe Biden wasn't quite the same television draw as Sarah Palin versus Biden was four years ago.
An estimated 51.4 million people watched Ryan, the Republican challenger, debate Vice President Biden, a Democrat, on Thursday night, said Nielsen, the company that measures television audiences.
Four years ago, just under 70 million people watched Palin debate Biden. But that was unusual; it was a debate that had more viewers than even any presidential contest dating back to 1992.
Excluding 2008, the Biden-Ryan debate had a larger audience than any other vice presidential debate since George Bush was matched up with Geraldine Ferraro in 1984, Nielsen said.
Last week, an estimated 67 million TV viewers saw President Barack Obama in his first debate against Mitt Romney. The two men debate again next week.
More people saw the vice presidential debate on Fox News Channel than any other network. It had an estimated 10.02 million viewers, CBS had 8.31 million, ABC had 8.29 million, NBC had 7.85 million, Fox broadcasting had 5.05 million, MSNBC had 4.38 million, CNN had 4.15 million and PBS had 2 million, Nielsen said.

Is it just me, or are these two about to french kiss one another?
@thetruthhurts I was thinking the same thing! "They lock eyes. It was only then they realized that nothing else matters in the world, only love."
My thoughts: 51.4 million watched nothing but lies, thieves and yellow belly sidewinders flappin' their lips. I am disgusted with our choices for presidency. Obama's administration is 100% lying to the American people about what happened in Libya. Romney tried to campaign on repealing roe vs. wade which was a major victory for women and then when women and men didn't like that he flipped. Why would anyone vote for Romney an his cult perceptions and why would anyone vote for Obama who continues to lie to the American people pertaining the economy, war(s) and what happened in Libya? If people participate by voting for either liar it will only prove my point that America is lost. (my opinion)
51.4M watched. And, the majority correctly concluded that Ryan won the debate. I see a pattern developing.
Â
As a side note. I sure enjoy Joe's Fire Marshall Bill impressions.
@Liberal_Illness Ryan LOST.. denial is an ugly thing
@Roadkill Check the post debate polls. And, holding your fingers in your ears, with your  eyes closed won't change that.
@Liberal_Illness what planet did you come from?
Bulletin: Presidents don't create jobs. They can, however, foster a more effective environment in which jobs can be created.Â
Right now - ain't happening.
@Throbbinhood I like the way you think.... I mean why have a Congress if the president possessed such power? I also will point out we don't have a Congress. Instead we have a house that's divided and will fall! The only way it will not fall is.... A miracle happens and they shed their party differences for the common good of "we the people" just an observation.
@Funky-Munky  @Throbbinhood FSunky - It's not goint to happen this election. So I am voting to keep Roe vs Wade,to lessen the chance of another ground war, to  prevent Social Security and Medicare from going to a voucher system, to prevent the repeal of all of the new regulation that protect people from at least some of the banks shenanigs, from seeing the lower wage earners pulverized etc.
 @Darn it! doh!!! :D)
@Funky-Munky Sorry if I ruined your day. ;)Â
Â
@Darn it! Yes, they're the law of the land... grr.. now I must rethink about politics again. Just when you think you're out they pull you right back in... somebody said that in a movie.... One of my favorites... Ha! Getting back on the short bus again... Ha!
@Funky-Munky Back to the drawing table? Recliner? Spot under a tree? I didn't mean it as a scare tactic but it is really scary. Supreme Court justices are also the reason we have Citizen's United.
@Darn it! That scare tactic to vote... well.... dang nab it... You got me on that one... didn't even consider that... yikes.
@Funky-Munky Agree. I know you are aware that two or three new Supreme Justices will need to be chosen within the next four years. That is very important. We could lose a lot more than Roe vx Wade.Â
@Darn it! One thing we're in agreement on is Obama being the lesser of two-evils... Obama will slowly bring us down.... Romney will be a rocket ship ride to the abyss. (my opinion)
@Darn it! Nope, just coming to terms with the deception of voting. I am still one of those who feel Al Gore should've been the next president. I believe what happened in Florida pertaining Jeb Bushes state made the difference in the presidential outcome. I also believe by Bush jr. replacing Supreme Court Justices had everything to do with political corruption. (just a thought) I know pretty far out right?
@Funky-Munky To me, if you don't vote you are saying that you don't care.Â
@Darn it! I thought about that too... Thought some more... came up with this... I am meek and will be their first and foremost for the weak and down trodden in the days to come. I honestly believe these weak men are going to bring our country to its knees with their flavor of the day politics.
@Funky-Munky   Ok. Respect your view but you are also giving up the ability to affect our entire country's survival.
@Darn it!  @Throbbinhood I understand your points 100% and agree with them all... I am spiritual and cannot allow myself the luxury of backing either. I believe them both to be men of weak flesh... The sins of the flesh plague us all, but I don't allow mine to interfere with an entire country's survival.
Worse yet, we have 545 total people (a certain 9 in black robes which we have little control over), making decisions for the entire country. Hard to believe the millions of registered voters who continually won't "vote out" those who are truly working against us.
Unbelievable.
@Throbbinhood It's past time for all Americans to unite... Too many of us have become engrossed in self preservation to make any difference... What's happening is a result of too many years of passing the buck etc.! Now all Americans can do is stand by and watch their country fall a part at the hands of weak men and women leaders.
51.4 million people watched  and out the total jobless 3 year disgrace over 10% for Blacks over 10% for latinos and ? for total population because that funny math of survey of 60,000 came up with over 800,000. new jobs.. Obama said he would help Latino jobless rates did not happen... Obama you lost my vote
@Bill Bylthe Like you were ever going to vote for Obama. Right wing tool. Divide and conquer, right?
@Darn it! saucy this morning.. Ha! :D)
Good Morning. Yep, a little. Must be the rain. It's clearing the air.
