'Not to be published' Diana photo sells for $18,000

AMHERST, N.H. (AP) - A photo marked "not to be published" that shows a teenage Diana Spencer before she became Princess of Wales has been sold by a New Hampshire auction house for more than $18,000.
The photograph shows a group of friends relaxing during a ski trip, with Diana reclining on a bed, with a young man seated behind her and a bottle of whiskey on the window sill.
It was acquired by a British newspaper just after her engagement Prince Charles, but someone at the paper wrote "not to be published" across it, presumably because it would've embarrassed the royal family.
RR Auction in Amherst, N.H., says the photo sold in the online auction Thursday to a real estate investor from San Diego for $18,306, well above early estimates.

I'm glad they said "before she became Princess of Wales". Otherwise I would have wondered where Charles was.
funny, somebody paid $18,000 for this picture and now I have it for free
I'm guessing it was to remain hidden because they made such a big deal out of her being a sweet innocent virgin and this could get the conspiracy theorists something else to blah blah blah about. Who cares what she did as a teenager! She was such an amazing woman who actually made a difference in the lives of people through her hands on charitable work. I will always admire her.
@The WA Mama Completely agree with you! :)
