Protests flare in Bahrain for Kim Kardashian visit

MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) — Just hours after reality TV star Kim Kardashian gushed about her impressions of Bahrain, riot police fired tear gas to disperse more than 50 hardline Islamic protesters denouncing her presence in the Gulf kingdom.
The clashes took place just before Kardashian opened the Bahrain branch of her Millions of Milkshakes shop.
An Associated Press journalist saw protesters chanting "God is Great" near the shopping complex in Riffa, some 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of the capital Manama. The demonstrators were cleared before Kardashian appeared late Saturday.
Earlier, she posted glowing remarks about Bahrain on her Twitter account, calling it "the prettiest place on earth." It was re-Tweeted by Bahrain's foreign minister.
Kardashian was in Kuwait earlier this week to open another branch of the shop.

Can we protest when she comes back?
Why must the media keep giving these clowns face time. Society must move on from this garbage
Hey Bahrain!Take it easy! It's not like she lives in your country! Here, she's always on TV, in the tabloids, posing her face (or her ass in most cases) everywhere! This is what we have to deal with it! Trust me! You got it good! Mellow out! ;)
She is nothing but a pig.....................
Puke. No talent a** clown who has been elevated to star status for no apparent reason.
 @HallandOates The reason is very apparent... It's called Kim & Ray J
@Stock Woodie @HallandOates -- Ray J???
@Stock Woodie @HallandOates "Oh, Ray J!...."
Its well deserved. This train wreck of a woman needs to realize shes not all important outside of the US (even inside of it actually). There is a different way of life in the Middle East and she thumbed her nose at it by believing shes above the rules.
Well, there's at least one thing that normally adjusted and socialized Americans have in common with Islamists - the aversion to dry heaves and retinal scarring.
Â
Kardashian should have to file an environmental impact statement before she goes anywhere.
Ya know - if all things media would just stop reporting every waking movement of all the Lohans and the Kardashians of the world - nobody would give a rats rump and even notice.Â
C'mon, KOMO - take the lead!
 @Throbbinhood It would be really interesting to find out just who this incessant "entertainment" media is and what sort of people they are. I think we would find them to be a collection of snarky little losers. And I agree with you about the media needing to just drop it with celebutantes ect.  And they themselves would probably prefer to be able to go to a Starbucks without being followed by twenty idiots with cameras.Â
 @Throbbinhood They need to keep us distracted by irrelevant crap like this so we don't notice the important issue we face in today's world..
Like that slut walk crap, crimany, how many months are we going to see that on here? enough already...
 @vadersith Nobody can have fun in your little world?
Like flag burning amendments?
Sure doesn't take much to set them off does it? Maybe the "Passion Fruit" shake was too much for them.
I understand it was the "Raspberry Rushdie" that was upsetting.
