TLC orders specials, extra episodes of Boo Boo

NEW YORK (AP) - Get ready for some Honey Boo Boo holidays.
The TLC network said Wednesday that it has ordered Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas specials focusing on its seven-year-old breakout star, Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson. The series airs its 10th and final episode of its debut season on Wednesday.
The show centers around Thompson, her mother June Shannon and their rural Georgia family and has been a breakout hit for the cable network. Thompson's outgoing personality and catchphrases like "A dolla makes me holla" made her a star, although some critics suggest the show mocks small-town Southern life.
TLC has also ordered additional episodes of the series to air next spring.

This show is like a train wreck. One night I couldn't sleep and was flipping through channels. This show came on and they were taking turns sitting blindfolded in a chair while everyone else was coming up and breathing on them. The person in the chair had to guess who it was by the smell of their breath. It was like a train wreck, but I couldn't stop watching. I feel so dirty.....
Ugh..I can not believe this show will continue. That little girl (and her entire family) has the worst manners I've ever seen...they come across as rude and crude.
It does not mock southern life! They are in rural GA which is not the same as AL, MS, NC, etc.Â
This show also got higher ratings than the GOP convention. Shows you what Republicans are really paying attention to.Â
Â
Â
@caphillkid I do admire your plunging into the OT abyss with such alacrity.
Â
Honey Boo-Boo= Republican indifference.Â
Stunning... and wrong as well.
Â
We postulate that Republicans and Democrats would watch Honey Boo Boo at a rate commensurate with Party registration (about 30-35% each depending on who you believe ). Assume all Democrats watch Honey Boo Boo and all Republicans watch the convention. We are left to  conclude that the difference is that THE INDEPENDENTS  watched Honey Boo Boo instead of the Convention. Therefore, it is the INDEPENDENT voter that is"paying attention to" mind rot instead of engaging in civic-minded TV and boosting the ratings over the Convention.
Â
And now... I would like this 10 minutes of my life back. I have a receipt.
@caphillkid Nobody cares about your political stance. Get a life.Â
Mom has 3 chins in the picture and her daughter already has 2.
Â
This show is made for fat southern white women.Â
@caphillkid Funny how you can stereotype southern women but freak out if anyone says anything about gays. Hypocrite?Â
@FremontTroll  @caphillkid Agreed. and June has a thyroid problem. Give it a rest.Â
Oh my God, please make it stop. If I have to see ads for another asinine reality TV show...I think drano, turpentine, and lye in my eyes would be less painful.
@MikeCoomer The one with the two-headed chick is pretty cool. :P It's both remarkable and depressing how the movie Network, made in 1976, continues to become more relevant every year.
I lost TLC when Comcrap went to digital programming. Not that I watched that channel before but even more I believe that there is NOTHING on TLC worth watching. Thank you, Comcast.
@Furd TLC used to be The Learning Channel and it was awesome to watch back in the early 2000s but now it is all just reality tv crap.
@Furd I just downgraded my comcast cable, I wish I could trade the 50 crap channels like this to get the NFL network back.
sad but I expect this little girl will not have a glorious life. After the fad fades....she will be like most child stars.....in trouble and on the edge
We can do without this...really we can.
WHYYYYYY?????
10 episodes, one for each of the mom's chins.
You guys are tough. There are only two chins and neck fat. I see a little chin, one very large chin, and a large roll of neck fat. With time and age she will graduate to 10 chins.
She does have more chins than China.
I tuned in to this show thinking I would absolutely hate it but I actually had a few chuckles which I didn't expect. This is the quintessential redneck family that actually seem down to earth... Can't say that for most of the other "reality" shows on tv nowadays.
@Tattooed_Angel They are GA rednecks and proud of it. They are funny and very down to earth. I am from the boring suburbs so I find them entertaining.
Mama looks happy cause she be raking in the money.
@mstipton That money will keep them in 22 piece KFC buckets for awhile.
TLC, doesn't that stand for The Learning Channel. Â We're doomed!
@oledawg I have said that so many times. No one is learning anything of value on this channel anymore. I remember it used to have science and history and I learned a lot. In school we would watch something every 2-4 weeks on the channel.  Now I would find it hard for any educator to find anything of value to show in a class room from The learning Channel, might as well call it MTV6 or what ever number is next.Â
She's the cutest little girl on TV today. Beats the cr@p outta watching the Kardashians.Â
