RECIFE, Brazil - Will Ferrell whipped revellers into a frenzy at a U.S. soccer party in Brazil on Wednesday by giving a surprise speech and poking fun at newly-banned Uruguayan player Luis Suarez.
The "Anchorman" star is in the country to support his national team at the soccer World Cup tournament, and he dropped into a party at the fan headquarters in Recife to fire up enthusiasm ahead of the U.S. team's match against Germany on Thursday.
In a video posted on the team's YouTube.com page, Ferrell dons the club's jersey and impersonates a soccer star during his speech, saying, "I am so honored to be playing tomorrow. I'm not gonna lie to you, I'm not in the best shape. I'm not in soccer shape right now, but I'm gonna try my best and I'm going to live up to the spirit of this American team."
He also poked fun at professional player Suarez, who bit an opponent during a World Cup match on Tuesday, adding, "If the game gets close, I will bite! I will bite the opponent! I will bite them! I will bite every German player if I have to."
Suarez, who plays for British club Liverpool FC as well as his national team Uruguay, has been suspended for nine international games, bringing his World Cup run to an abrupt end, and banned from any soccer activity for four months.
