PUYALLUP, Wash. -- A police chase through the streets of Puyallup ended with a high-risk sex offender crashing into a deputy's patrol car on Thursday night.
Even with a police manhunt closing in, Christopher Adams was determined not to be caught.
Officers finally tracked down the wanted felon to a home in Puyallup and after a short struggle, placed him under arrest.
Investigators had been looking for Adams for a parole violation and his failure to register as a sex offender. An undercover officer spotted him driving and tried to box him in, but says Adams turned desperate.
"He rammed the first car that tried to block him in - the police car that tried to block him in - according to his girlfriend in the car, and that was intentional," said King County Sheriff's Sgt. John Hall.
The damage to the undercover car was not immediately obvious, but the crash made it inoperable.
Officers says they chased Adams to 16th Street where he ditched the car and ran through a backyard, then barricaded himself in his mother's attic. But the hideout didn't last long
"Puyallup (police) put their dog in the attic, and located our suspect hiding in the attic. And we took him into custody," Hall said.
Adams has a long criminal history that includes a conviction for rape of a child, and a history of failing to register.
Now he could face new charges for smashing into a patrol car.

It would be great to have mandatory ankle tracking devices that deliver an electric shock ANYTIME the offender leaves their home. Â They should be housebound if there is no room in jail. Â I know that some of these guys figure out how to get those things off, or the battery dies or some such nonsense. Â There should be a good amount of money spent to anyone who can develop the perfect, unremovable, forever lasting tracking ankle device. Â And if it can only be battery powered and the battery begins to die it can only be changed out by the authorities. Â AND to motivate the offender to call in to report his dying battery, it should delivery constant electric shocks to remind him that he needs to make that call. Â Just like training a dog, except dogs actually learn.
Raping a child, failing to register and this POS was out on the streets!!! He should of never gotten out of jail after the charge of rapping a child!!! Washington sure has lenient laws! Maybe they need to take a few notes from Texas! This POS should not be given a second chance to hurt anyone else! Maybe they will put him away longer now since he crashed into a deputy's vehicle. Since this is more severe than rapping a child! <sarcasm>
@cajunurse Not only the lenient laws, but it's also the courts/judges. It is also an issue of jail overcrowding and lack of money to handle these pukes.

The state DOC does still have the sex offender unit where these people can be locked up but for some reason these sex offenders still get out of jail. When they are released some register as "transients" and do not provide an address where the police or DOC staff can check on them.
Â
Failing to register as a sex offender is a crime, but there should be a requirement that anyone convicted as a sex offender should be required to register and provide an address where they will live as a condition of release. No registration or no address, no release.

If I had to go out on a limb.. not that this makes it any better or excuses anything he has done personally anyone who abuses children or animals should be locked up for life. But that is just me and I dygress.. but the article stated he had a girlfriend in the car.. my guess is this gal had no idea he was a registered or unregistered sex offender and he was trying to hide this fact from her.. sound screwed up to me and thank goodness he was found before he did any harm to this gal or anyone else...
unbelievable how people actually think this sort of scum can be "fixed" or "cured".
Â
i think society SHOULD be able to give up on someone that is willing to rape a child (or an adult for that matter). jail for life, execution - i really don't care. just keep them off the streets.
Â
imagine how many sex offenders are out there unregistered?
I only read the headline and thought that it was about Chase bank. I wondered why the bank had sex offenders...
Why was this freak running around and not locked up in jail in the first place. Child rapist or any other type of rapists for that matter should never see the light of day again
Obviously a case of one dog attacking the other. Let's hope the one who got attacked gets thrown in the pound, if you know what I mean.
Good dog!
