King 5 reported both cars found abandoned in Lakewood today. Only found this on Tribune site http://blog.thenewstribune.com/crime/2012/08/17/stolen-vintage-cars-valued-at-150000-apiece-recovered-by-pierce-county-deputies/
Just a suggestion, let the owner register the stolen car in www.c2registry.org with his contact details. It might pop-up in the future and find its way back since this site is very popular amongst Corvette owners/lovers.

I am with PilonidalCyst - I question the value of these cars. The owner said he worked on these cars (other station) and he drove them a lot so it sounded like he had owned them for a while.  According to theREALtruth
"You can tell by the hood that is a L79 396 motored car. This Photo of the NAssau Blue Corvette is also from the Barrett Jackson Catalog from Scottsdale 2012, where it old for $115,500 including buyers commission"- so the owner just bought it and it increased in value to over $150,000 in months with the guy driving it?  Something doesn't add up here.  I have a 1972 LT1 vette (pristine, numbers matching) and a 1965 corvette (not quite Bloomington Gold but numbers matching) and I know what I would hope to get if I sold them and for both of them it is no where near $150,000. So please put out some more information on what makes the two stolen cars so "rare"!
I knew a guy years ago who had his vette stolen. Saw the idiot cruizing alki in it. Busted. Some kind of idiot.
Oh so I guess neither the owner nor the insurance company wants them back.lol
Thats the problem with rich people. They buy these toys just to show how important they are and thats it. I love cars, but I love to drive them. And you don't drive them then they are just status symbols so who cares what happens to them.
Hope someone gets them that really appreciates them.
@Blindman Again youre making assumptions based on anything written about the owner. If youre jealous that a car owner was collecting a few cars that he had a passion about, then thats your issue. You also assume he is rich, perhaps he is a retiree with a good pention or 401K? Jealousy only will get you so far in life.
Â
In another story, the owner is literally begging for the two cars back as they are treated like part of his family.
Corvette Collectors want the cars with chrome bumpers in front. Check E-Bay
They're on their way to central or south America by now. Just as well. Maybe someone will actually get to enjoy driving them.
$1000 reward?lol Certainly they're insured. Evidently they just want the insurance money and aren't really that interested in getting the cars back.
@Blindman The reward money is from Crime Stoppers NOT the owner as stated in the story. Who says the cars werent enjoyed by the owner? Thats a large assumption if you arent the owner to make.
I can't speak to the Chevelle but I once had the misfortune of owning a '65 Vette. If you're OK with the steering wheel against your jaw and a ride hard enough to knock your fillings loose, then go for it. If these things are worth $150,000, it's in terms of Obama dollars a few years from now.
@Wormwood
Amazing how some people always manage to get politics in ANY story they read....
These cars may not be worth that much to you (even if you had that much to spend on a car, and I sure don't), some people DO pay that much for them.
Instead of always looking through your Republican-colored glasses, how about you take them off for a while and just see this story for what it is. Some guy's prized possessions were stolen, valued at a lot of money (pretty sure they're insured) and he wants them back. That's all. Then just move along and leave the always tiring politics out of it. This is not FOX.
@DrugFighter @Wormwood Well said.
@Wormwood Impressive, youve interjected your bile laced political narrow minded attitude into something that hundreds of thousands of people enjoy regardless of their political affiliations. These cars will remain long after the current political climate has been forgotten. Ive yet to attend a car show and see people spout off about anything other than the cars they see.
Sure they're stripped and shipped on their way to China by now. Better keep that $1,000 and put it towards a better security system next time.Â
The $1000 is from Crime Stoppers, not the owner
I think I saw that Corvett going down Route 66 with Todd driving and Buzz in the passenger seat. Catch them if you can
First: No way those cars are worth that amount. One-third of that, tops. It does sound like a good story to try foist on an insurance company though.
Â
Secondly: Pretty puny award offer. You're not going to get some dirtbag to turn in his runnin' buddy for a measly thou.
@PilonidalCyst - one third? I dont think so......You can tell by the hood that is a L79 396 motored car. This Photo of the NAssau Blue Corvette is also from the Barrett Jackson Catalog from Scottsdale 2012, where it old for $115,500 including buyers commission.Â

@PilonidalCyst Depending on several factors like how many were originally built, if its all original body and not reproduction parts, etc yes it can be worth that much. Its not like todays cars where you buy it and replace it after five years for a fraction of what you paid for it. These cars (I have a classic muscle car too) are worth a lot to people not in just terms of money but in memories and history.
Â
In the current economy, a $1000 can go a lot way for someone out of work or needing to pay bills.
Chances are they are processed in a chop shop. Its very difficult to just run around with these cars as they stick out against the general populations choices in cars today. I do hope they get back to the owner in one piece.
@DarkRenegade Cars like this don't go to "chop shops". Hondas, etc do.
@Klondiko  @DarkRenegade Considering that these will stick out easily on the road, even repainted, the likeliness that the thieves may strip the cars, sold off the parts for a bundle of money is higher. Only the most inept thief would run around driving the car with all the news agencies in the area running the story.
These guys should be hung.
Like gone in 60 seconds, they will be put in shipping containers and heading for the middle east.
They won't find these cars, sorry to say. They've probably been repainted and loaded onto a container ship overseas.
nice cars, thats for sure
Sweet rides!!
Oh man, my dad would be in tears if he knew this. Probably shouldn't even tell him. ;) Anyway, yeah I hope they find them. Shouldn't be too hard. They'll probably stick out like a sore thumb.
I hope they catch the dirtbags soon. Beautiful cars - sorry to hear this.
