Alleged thief’s exploits in closed movie theater caught on camera
SEATTLE -- Security camera video captured the exploits of a man who may or may not have spent the night in a downtown movie theater Monday, according to the Seattle Police Department.
AMC Pacific Place 11 employees, security guards and police officers gathered around to watch the poor-quality surveillance footage Monday morning.
The man first pops up around 7 a.m. behind the popcorn counter. It's unknown how he got into the theater, but it's possible he slept there overnight, according to the police report.
Surveillance footage shows the man attempting to open money drop boxes and cash register boxes to no avail. He can then be seen hunting around for a tool to use to open them. Finding one, the man returns to the cash boxes only to fail once again.
Cashless, the man next pops up on camera in the employee break room, where he opens and searches through lockers.
He drinks part of a Mountain Dew soda from an employee fridge before putting it in a plastic bag with some Nike Air Jordans he found, according to the police report. Footage also shows him take an employee's North Face jacket.
Finally, the man hops on an employee's bicycle and rides it around the theater for a bit before leaving with it.
It's possible this surveillance footage is the best thing currently in theaters.
Apparently there are not any good movies out right now.
Holy cow! Â I LOVE the last line of this article! Â Hilarious, considering what's out there on the screen! Â :)
@DMT Aye,  @MichaelHarthorne  is splendid. Â
@DMT The editorial freedom...I am going to start calling it a "Harthorne-ism"...Adds some character to all his reports!
With all the video footage, seems a bit more than an alleged thief...or perhaps he was just borrowing the items he took?
@aintno1special Number-one rule of crime reporting: Avoid possible lawsuits. So, blame lawyers for wordy headlines, I guess.
@MichaelHarthorne @aintno1special And I guess those were also alleged employees, security guards and police officers watching the alleged video taken in the alleged movie theater. Â
Now that I think about it, isn't it lawyers who run Washington, DC? Â That would explain a lot.
@Tim Lane @MichaelHarthorne @aintno1special "Alleged attorneys"
@MichaelHarthorne @aintno1special
âAvoid possible lawsuitsâ
I wouldnât worry too much about that, Mr. Harthorne, lawyers also mess up. I should think they could cut some slack for what they'd call erroneous wordingâ¦.. My last attorney has been disbarred for life and is doing 5 years for thief of client funds..â¦
@MichaelHarthorne @aintno1special Exactly what I figured..."innocent until proven"...Dang attorneys!! :)
