1 dead, 4 injured in head-on crash in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Wash. -- One person died and four others were injured in a head-on crash late Thursday afternoon.
Officials said a car headed north on Highway 9 crossed the center line and struck an oncoming car north of Crown Ridge Boulevard just before 5 p.m.
The Arlington man who was driving the car that caused the crash died at the scene. His name has not been released.
A 41-year-old woman and three children were riding in the car that was hit. The woman and a 14-year-old girl were taken to Providence Hospital in Everett with serious injuries. The children, 4- and 2-years old, were also taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure. All four are from Marysville and all are in stable condition, according to Arlington Assistant City Administrator Kristin Banfield.
Investigators said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

It would be nice if people got the story right. Some other news article said it was a woman killed and that the accident happened just after 3PM, which is the right time according to my wife who heard the sirens. Regardless I hope the people in the Black car heal quickly.
@Scott It was a man driving the red Mitsubishi who died.
Remember they got what was coming to them, but the family of the drinker is suffering terriibly today, no one wins, thats very sad.
If the driver at fault was drinking or otherwise under the influence of a controlled substance. Then they got what they had coming to them. Glad more lives weren't lost.
@Alaska316 Reports are coming out that people in front and behind the driver were on cell phones to 911 reporting his erratic driving.  The driver in front of him even slowed to about 40 mph from the posted 55 mph, certainly reducing the risk of death for the 4 who were pulled out of the black car.
The black car was a 2011/2012 Nissan Leaf 100% electric car. It it 5 star crash rated, IIHS Top Safety Pick, with 8 air bags including side curtain, side impact and variable inflation front airbags. It is one of the safest cars on the road. We have a black Leaf just like this one. So sad for everyone involved, but I am sure the Leaf driver is glad they picked one of the safest cars available today.
@Turbo Froggy I'd be more inclined to get one if they could go farther on a charge. Makes a road trip longer when you have to stop so often to recharge the car! I don't think they'll even make my entire daily commute (100+ miles) without plugging in.
Thank goodness the innocent car had rear airbags for the 2 kids in the back.....
If the drivet was drunk or on drug... Good job. Hope the inicent people recover quickly!!
