NEAH BAY, Wash. - One person was killed and another was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a two-car head-on crash on a rural Olympic Peninsula highway, the Washington State Patrol reported.

State troopers responded to the scene, about 14 miles east of Neah Bay on Highway 112, at about 10:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a serious collision.

One person was found dead at the scene. A second person was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries.

It was not immediately clear what led to the crash. A State Patrol photo taken at the scene showed two cars had collided head-on in the westbound lane of the highway on a bluff above the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

The highway is currently blocked and is expected to reopen at about 2 p.m.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
