1 killed, 3 injured in overnight shooting outside Sumner motel
SUMNER, Wash. - Police are looking for the people behind an overnight shooting in Sumner that left one person dead and three others injured.
The incident unfolded just after midnight Sunday at the Sumner Motor Inn in the 15500 block of Main Street.
Police say a group of construction workers from Californmia were having a smoke outside when two people drove up, said something to them, then opened fire. The car then sped off.
A 23-year-old man was shot in the head and died at the scene. Three others were seriously injured by the gunfire.
Police and medics arrived on the scene almost immediately, and the three injured victims were rushed to the hospital. One was hit in the abdomen, another in the arm and abdomen and the third was hit in the leg. There was no immediate word on their conditions.
Police say the victims did not know the suspects.
The shooter's vehicle is described as a smaller silver car with a spoiler.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Follow the money . Thank you police and reporters for notifying us.
After over 18 hours this story hasn't seemed to have "developed" much, and no description of the "suspected" MURDERERS themselves has yet "become available". Shocking.
Â
Guess we'll just have to keep an eye out for that rare "smaller silver car with a spoiler".
"Police say a group of construction workers from Californmia were..."
Â
It should say, "group...was."
Oh, Sumner. How I miss the field that was destroyed to create Fred Meyer et al. How I miss the Spartan Drive-in when it was actually a drive-in. How I miss the 'hometown' feel from 25 years ago that is gone, filled with commercialism, miscreants and violence. Le sigh.
So many questions and too few witnesses.
Â
How many construction workers total from California are staying at Motel?
Â
What are the races of the victims who were shot?
Â
Where were the vics and activities during the previous 3 hours?
Â
Did any of the construction guys make a pass earlier and attempt to gain some local female affection?
Â
Were any of the construction workers drinking at a neighborhood bar?
Â
Â
 @Harrison I think you are on to something with these questions.Â
Â
Just stepped out of the room to smoke and refused some drugs and got shot.
Â
There is more to this story than meets the eye.
Â
 @truthandfiction The story screams brown on brown crime.
 @Harrison  @truthandfiction Funny how different people of different backgrounds write, in their own minds, various causes to senseless acts of violence. When the crime in an area goes up the property value sinks. Nice white collar, narcissistic, sociopath, developers buy property at this reduced value and build scenic condoland for the retired or the next group of foreign yuppies to work at their highly invested in corporation. Answer: Pierce County needs to take another look at their growing felon population and address this with housing and living wage jobs, like San Francisco did. Just a thought.
2 out of the 4 guys are my cousins and they are in critical conditions. They are not into drugs they were stationed there to work!! They were innocent bystanders. It is NO DRUG DEAL GONE WRONG BOBBY BROWN. Please don't assume anything especially when it comes to others being hurt!!!
 @RACHEL I am sorry you had to suffer this personal trauma, Rachel. It is just plain inexplicable in a little place like Sumner. I think that the comments about drugs or other illegal behavior are not directed at your relatives, but rather toward the columnist and police. To assist them in finding the suspects it would help the public to have more info, is all that is. I have been in critical condition before and survived amazingly. So get your Cali can do attitude out there girl, and know that your support of your cousins, embodies miracles.
Â
@RACHEL I hope your cousins make a full recovery. Thank you for posting the additional info and clarifying that it was not drug related. As I'm sure you know, there have been a rash of drug related shootings lately. I think people are assuming that this is the case here as well -- I admit, it was the first thought to have crossed my mind until I read into this a little further. I hope they find the guys that did this to them and figure out why.

 @Harrison  @RACHEL Racist much?
 @Harrison  @RACHEL No mames, Harrison.
Prayers for their full recovery......
Wonder if it was the same douchbags I saw at the Daffodil bowling alley down the street in Puyallup. Sounds like them. The time stamp is not that far off.
@Zoso please tell the cops. Those were my cousins that were shot.
 @RACHEL My sincere apologies, I probably shouldn't have posted that. I was actually venting about something that happened inside the place, a conflict with some losers. Actually, if it was just after midnight, then it wasn't them since they were still there at the time. I left before they did which was just after one. Again, my apologies for any confusion. I hope your other cousin(s) recover while the other rests in peace. With everything that's been going on throughout the last week, especially during this time of season, I'm just getting fed up with all these losers. Take care. :(
I find it odd that anyone would just randomly drive to a motor inn say a few words and just start shooting. This is either a serious case of wrong time, wrong place or there is more to the story.Â
@Just my say  As far as I know some girl was asking to buy weed and one of the guys told her that they didnt do that and to leave and called her a bitch. Her boyfriend got mad and drove back shooting. The guys were there to work not sell drugs. The don't even do drugs!!! My two cousins were hit and they didn't say anything.
Â
Â
 @Just my say Agreed. It's either gangs, drugs, or maybe an earlier altercation at a bar. I just don't see it being "random". Maybe there will be more information to come once the police finish with interviews and their investigations.
 @Veteran  @Just my say Sounds like the victims are all "family".... tight bunch from cali.... probably will all stay together with their story. Turf war, La EME, we will see... maybe.

Yep, always a good way to deal with things...start shooting. Morons...
Ya Californmia is north of Meziso
"Police say the victims did not know the suspects."
Â
So they SAW the suspects? Any chance of a description?
Construction workers from California? Somehow, I bet that is not the whole story.
@Getov Mylon That is the whole story. They didn't know the shooters
@Getov Mylon More to story - agreed. Unfortunately, we probably won't get the follow-up...
Sorry, "Californmia." as of 9:09 am, 12/16
@Getov Mylon I'm a witness!
"...smaller silver car with a spoiler..."
That oughta narrow the field somewhat.
 @Throbbinhood "...smaller silver car with a spoiler..."
Â
That makes half of Auburn suspects.
 @Getov Mylon  @Throbbinhood Auburn has become a very undesirable place in the last 10 years.... and it's not getting any better
@truthandfiction @Getov Mylon @Throbbinhood.......your comment pretty much applies to EVERY place in Western WA...
Wow.....I am surprised the LEOs in Sumner didn't get these guys.Â

 @Bobby Brown  @Vince Citation?
 @Bobby Brown  @Vince Maybe the Motel should put up a sign? Drug dealers in charge...stay at your own risk!"  That way people from Californmia will know to stay somewhere else? Washintwon doesn't look like a safe place for tourists eh?
KOMO, please, do yourself a favor....turn on spell-check?
