1 killed as car slams into power pole in Auburn

AUBURN, Wash. - A man was killed when his car crashed into a power pole early Saturday in Auburn, officials said.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, just south of Lake Tapps Parkway on East Valley Highway, at about 1:25 a.m. after receiving a report of a serious crash with the driver trapped inside the vehicle.

Fire crews arrived and found a single car that had collided with a power pole.

Firefighters gained access to the trapped driver and determined that he had died. There was no one else inside the vehicle.

The accident is under investigation by the Auburn Police Department.

The identity of the driver was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
