1 killed as pickup slams into tree in Sultan
SULTAN, Wash. - A 61-year-old Sultan man was killed Thursday afternoon when his pickup slammed into a tree, officials said.

Snohomish County sheriff's deputies and medics responded to the scene, near the 33000 block of Mann Road in Sultan, at about 4:20 p.m. Thursday.

Medics performed CPR on the victim, but he died shortly after being airlifted from the scene.

An investigation found that the man was driving south on Mann Road in a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck when he veered off the roadway and slammed into a tree.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Sheriff's officials said it is unknown what caused the accident, but speed or alcohol do not appear to be a factor.

The man's name was not immediately released.
