SHINE, Wash. - A truck driver was killed when his semi rig veered off Highway 104 in Jefferson County and slammed into a stand of trees, the Washington State Patrol reported.

State troopers and medics responded to the scene, about two miles west of the Hood Canal Bridge, at about 9:30 a.m. Monday after receiving reports of a crashed semi trailer.

They found the semi tractor-trailer truck completely off the roadway and partially down an embankment. The driver was dead at the scene.

Troopers said it will take some time to complete the investigation and tow the truck out of the trees, but traffic should be able to get through most of the time.
