1 killed as stranger opens fire at Tacoma house party
TACOMA, Wash. - A man was killed when a stranger with a gun showed up at a house party early Sunday in Tacoma and opened fire at a resident who lives at the home, police said.
The incident unfolded at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 2000 block of South 29th Street.
Witnesses at the party said an unknown man showed up and got into an argument with the resident who lives at the home.
At some point, the stranger pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the ground. He then pointed the gun at the resident and fired several shots into him.
The gunman then fled the scene in a light-colored SUV.
Police and medics arrived soon afterward. The victim was rushed to Tacoma General Hospital, where he died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Detectives are working on a description of the suspect as they actively investigate the deadly shooting.

Hmmm.. signs point to drug dealer not giving someone their money or something close to it...
Â
and really a party at 3:40am on a worknight... some people just have the consideration of a rock! best make sure none of the attendees are on unemployment!
Gee really a shooting at a party in Tacoma at 3:40 AM. No way dude!
See what happens when you make bad decisions about cable TV?
Did the police check the victimâs cell phone? This unfortunate incident should serve as a life lesson about the pitfalls of playing loud ethnic music in the middle of the night.
@Harrison That was the first thing they probably did, some of you really think you must be detectives because you watch the first 48 hours on A&E, and similar shows all over cable. LOL
@Harrison How does this have anything to do with loud music in the middle of the night... stupid thing to say... but your first part about the phone is a good idea for sure
Maybe it was one of the neighbors that hired a hit man because of these house parties that run all night.
I must be getting old, at 3.45 am I already have 6 hours of safe and sound sleep behind me.. nothing good happens in the south end at that time
Good things happen to not so good people after 11pm!
Yeah I figured. The Sunday news wouldn't be complete without another one of these.
Used to be fist fights once in a while and you could go to a house party. None of the ones I went to when I was younger had a gun incident and aside from the predictable males trying to impress females thing it was all just people who knew each other well letting off some steam on a Saturday night. A small number of badly parented a**holes are taking guns to everything after dark and we need a better solution than just waiting for the next one that goes off.Â
@Citizen#3457899654 ....Like the death penalty for all violent gun crimes.

At some point, the man that everyone knew but told police they didn't, pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the ground. He then pointed the gun at the resident and fired several shots into him.

Detectives are working on their golf game as they go through the motions of actively investigating the deadly shooting."

Upon further investigation with other news sources, this actually might be a case that would appear to be different than our weekly, "Weekend Tacoma Shooting."  The Tacoma News Tribune has the time of the incident at 12;45 am, not 3:40.
Â
âI donât think the people at the party actually knew him,â police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

For a police spokesman to state that in that way, suggests that it may not be the "No Snitchin" scenario we all expect.

@Sid Vishess Thanks Sid. That's the way the news used to be reported. Facts and not PC crap.
@fyrefawx Your humble (?) public servant Sid is your sentinel for truth and justice, standing ready to tilt at the PC Windmills.
@Sid Vishess Yeah, 'cept about that vegetarian thing, but that was yesterday and yesterday's gone.
Gang or drug related. Probably both. One would think that the partygoers would be able to provide a good description of this murderer. Â
The results and description of how this event went down is an element of society that we can do without.
So let me get this straight. Someone NOBODY at this party knew, just shows up, starts a fight with the person throwing the shindig, pulls a gun and shoots them DEAD? Someone they didn't even know? Something doesn't smell quite right about this one. I'm thinking people don't want to "violate the code" and are keeping clam. I hope this insane person is found before they harm someone else. Preferably, they'll resist arrest, and be immediately taken care of in the street, rather than US taking care of them for YEARS in the joint.
@Wolfen the deceased is not able to make a statement. He may have been the only person who knew the alleged killer. Any how, I am sorry for the loss of life, and sorry that people do this to each other.
@two loons Me too. Sick world we live in. Makes me fear for my granddaughter's future.
