1 of 2 bodies recovered on Rainier is identified

ASHFORD, Wash. (AP) - A Mount Rainier National Park spokesman says one of two bodies recently recovered from a glacier on the mountain is that of a 30-year-old Atlanta woman who was one of four people who vanished in January storms.
Park spokesman Kevin Bacher said Monday the Pierce County medical examiner's office has identified the body of Michelle Trojanowski. She and 37-year-old Mark Vucich of Agoura Hills, Calif., failed to return from a camping trip on the Muir snowfield. Vucich's body was found Aug. 6.
Work continues to identify a male body found near Trojanowski. Those two bodies were recovered Friday on the Paradise Glacier, at about the 8,200-foot level of the 14,411-foot peak.
Melting snow exposed the bodies.
Two climbers also were reported missing nearby at the same time - Sork "Eric" Yang of Springfield, Ore., and Seol Hee Jin of South Korea, both 52.
Bacher says an extensive search on Saturday failed to turn up a fourth body.

Why do people choose to climb Mt Rainier in January? the worst possible month for weather. So sad. Condolences to the families.
Sprinkle my ashes in the mountain meadows or something like that. If I ever was so daring and capable to attempt such a hike, I might write up some last wishes so as to not fully depart that place.Â
I'm glad at least one family can hopefully get some peace knowing that her body has been recovered.
RIP. Condolences to family and friends.

The mystery of what happened in that storm thickens. Why would Mark and Michelle split up? I'm not implying anything nefarious or inappropriate AT ALL, but it seems unusual that she would be found with one of the Korean climbers on the Paradise Glacier (off route), while her partner Mark was not far off the typical route to Camp Muir.

We'll probably never know exactly what happened, other than they were all at the wrong place at the wrong time.
