Deputies hope surveillance photos can catch home invasion robbers
VASHON, Wash. -- King County Sheriff's deputies hope that a homeowner's surveillance system will help capture the robber that ransacked his home on Aug. 19.
The 46-year-old homeowner was asleep in his Vashon Island home in the 9400 block of SW Gorsuch Road when two masked men burst into his bedroom around 6:30 a.m. and used duct tape to tie him up, said Sgt. John Urquhart with the King County Sheriff's Department.
The men repeatedly asked him for money and hit him over the head several times with a pistol one of the men was carrying, Urquart said, adding the robbers threatened to shoot him if he didn’t tell them where the money was.
They ransacked the house until they found a small safe in the bedroom closet. Forcing the victim to open the safe, they stole the few hundred dollars inside. They also took a laptop computer before leaving, Urquhart said.
The homeowner crawled to his toolbox and used a pair of wire cutters to remove the duct tape.
Urquhart says both suspects were in their 20’s and both around 200 lbs. One of the suspects was around 5’ 10” and wore glasses under his mask. The other was about 6’ 1”. The shorter suspect could have been Hispanic and the other was Caucasian.
Luckily, the homeowner had surveillance system that captured images of the two attackers. (See all photos released by investigators in this gallery.)
If anyone has any information on this crime they are asked to call the King County Sheriff's Office at (206) 296-3311 (24 hours).
