KING COUNTY -- A sheriff's deputy recovered a giant toilet while on routine patrol on Wednesday morning.

Sheriff's spokesman John Urquhart said Deputy C. Neely found the the toilet, which measured 7 feet high and 7 feet long. The toilet was sitting on the side of the roadway in the 18600 block of Southeast Lake Young's Road, covered with a tarp.

Upon finding the toilet, Urquhart said Neely yelled out,"Holy crap, it's a giant toilet!"

But the white toilet with a blue velour eat and a red flush handle turned out not to be a a toilet at all, but a soapbox derby car built to look like one.

The derby car had been built by a group of friends in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and had been brought to Seattle to participate in last month's soap box derby race.

The giant toilet was stolen while loaded up in the back of a truck, which was also stolen.

Urquhart said there was no sign of the truck near the recovered toilet. The truck is presumably still stolen, he said.
