BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. -- A man was killed after his motorcycle fell into a ditch late Saturday night.

Police said the 24-year-old Bainbridge Island man was traveling west on Manitou Beach approaching Murden Cove Road when he took a curve too fast and slid off the roadway. The bike struck a telephone pole before going into the ditch.

The unidentified man died at the scene. Police said he suffered head injuries.

Police said speed and alcohol may have played a role in the crash. Nearby residents reported hearing what sounded like a speeding vehicle between 10 and 11 p.m. on Saturday.

Anyone with additional information on the case is urged to contact the Bainbridge Island Police Department at 206-842-5211.
