ROSLYN, Wash. - Several people were injured, some seriously, in a five-car pileup Saturday morning on icy Interstate 90 near Roslyn in Kittitas County, officials said.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene, in the eastbound lanes of I-90 just before the Roslyn exit ramp, at about 8:30 a.m.

Medics treated nine people, including seven who required hospitalization and one who was ejected from a vehicle. The injured were sent to hospitals in Bellevue and Ellensburg.

Injuries ranged from minor to serious and included head injuries, pelvic and abdominal injuries, as well as injuries to arms and legs. There were no fatalities.

There was no immediate word on what triggered the accident, which remains under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.

But officials said the freeway was icy and snowy at the time of the crash.
