Detectives: Death of Enumclaw boy, 4, suspicious
TACOMA, Wash. -- Detectives here are investigating the suspicious death of a 4-year-old boy from Enumclaw.

The boy died Thursday morning at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, where he'd been admitted with "suspicious" injuries, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the boy reportedly fell ill while in the care of his mother's boyfriend on Saturday, Jan. 2. The man called his girlfriend at work and said he was taking the boy to his own mother's, as he was sick.

The boy was later picked up by his mother, who said he was very ill throughout the night. She and her boyfriend decided to take the boy to Mary Bridge on Sunday.

While en route, however, the boy became unconscious, prompting them to rush him to Valley Regional Medical Center instead. From there, he was airlifted to Mary Bridge, where he later died.

The cause of the boy's death has not been determined, and investigators have not elaborated on his suspicious injuries.

No one has been arrested in the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
