Kathi's doctors: 'We accomplished everything we hoped to accomplish'
Kathi Goertzen is seen during an interview in January.
SEATTLE -- Kathi Goertzen underwent over 10 hours of surgery Wednesday to remove parts of tumor that are growing in her brain and doctors told her family afterward, "we accomplished everything we hoped to accomplish."

Doctors say she'll be in recovery for several hours Wednesday night and in intensive care for the next two to three days.

Kathi arrived at the hospital early Wednesday morning and her surgery began at 9 a.m. Doctors had expected it would be a lengthy procedure and it wasn't completed until around 7:30 p.m.

Kathi said Tuesday night that she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support e-mails, phone calls and website comments she received after posting her letter on Tuesday night announcing the planned surgery.

Her husband, two daughters, parents, sister and pastor are all at the hospital with her.

The family said they are reading your messages and comments on komonews.com and on Kathi's Facebook page while they wait and are simply amazed at the outpouring of love and support.
