'Hate map' shows 13 extremist groups in Wash. state
An organization that fights groups like the Aryan Nations and the Ku Klux Klan has released a new "hate map" showing the location of groups it has identified as extremist around the U.S.

According to the map, Washington state has 13 active hate groups.

The "hate map" was compiled by the Southern Poverty Law Center, based in Alabama. The map identifies the location of groups and their affiliations.

Four of the groups are based in Seattle, and include black separatists, white nationalists and racist skinheads. East of the Cascades, extremist groups are mostly white supremacists

In addition, Washington state has four separate neo-Nazi groups operating in Milton, Tacoma and Vancouver, according to the map.

But that's nothing compared to California. The center says it has nearly 70 active hate groups.

Southern states also had high numbers of extremist groups.
