Wash. man lobbies Congress for stricter teen license
VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - A Vancouver, Wash., man will be in Washington, D.C., next week to lobby Congress for more restrictions on teen driver's licenses.
Tyler Presnell, 26, is working with traffic-safety advocates to push for a national three-step licensing process, with limits on new drivers until at least age 18.
Twelve years ago, Presnell was in the back seat of a friend's car when the newly licensed driver lost control. The car hit a telephone pole at 70 mph and Presnell spent six weeks in a coma. He has had more than 20 surgeries and continues to experience short-term memory loss.
Presnell also speaks to high school students about safe driving.
