SEATTLE -- Two people were injured when their boat crashed into the west highrise of the State Route 520 floating bridge on Monday.
The 30-foot cabin cruiser got wedged under the north side of the bridge at approximately 8 p.m., trapping the two passengers inside.
Rescue crews got the man and woman out of the boat and they were taken to an area hospital, one with serious injuries.
The cause of the crash has not been determined, and it is not known whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
One eastbound lane of 520 was shut down for several hours after the incident while transportation officials searched the bridge for any signs of damage.
Officials determined the bridge only sustained superficial damage, and remains safe for drivers.
