Official: 'Huge' porn stash found in bin Laden's lair
WASHINGTON - A stash of pornography was found in the large cache of evidence seized from Osama bin Laden's Abbottabad compound by U.S. Navy SEALs, according to a report confirmed by ABC News.
The existence of the pornography stash, which one U.S. official told ABC News was "huge," was first reported by Reuters news service.
The official said the pornographic material was found in a wooden box in bin Laden's bedroom and included electronically recorded videos.
Bin Laden's compound did not have an Internet connection or other hard-wired networks, but a video recovered by the SEALs showed bin Laden watching TV while inside the compound, suggesting those in the compound could play back videos.
The discovery of the pornographic videos is just the latest in a steady stream of information gleaned from evidence obtained by the SEALs during the mission that killed bin Laden nearly two weeks ago.
The White House previously disclosed that the intelligence haul includes the videos of bin Laden watching himself on TV, along with email addresses and phone numbers of al Qaeda operatives.
Officials are analyzing 1 million pages of data recovered from bin Laden's lair and said they've learned more about al Qaeda in the past 10 days than in the last 10 years combined, ABC News reported.
The cache of electronic and handwritten materials includes numerous al Qaeda plots, including a proposal for attacks on U.S. trains and a handwritten "professional journal" urging attacks on smaller U.S. cities.
One official told ABC News that the evidence taken from bin Laden's compound includes a "strategic guide for how to attack the U.S."
Officials also said the al Qaeda leader wanted to find a way to kill President Obama.
The al Qaeda leader even allegedly calculated exactly how many American lives it would cost to force a U.S. withdrawal from the Arab world, according to officials cited in an Associated Press report.
