Small tornado touches down near Napavine
NAPAVINE, Wash. -- A small tornado briefly touched down near Napavine Friday afternoon, leaving a small trail of minor damages.

Diana Kannenberg said the tornado stuck just before 2 o'clock about a mile east of town, and twisted the metal roofing of her shed "just like you would take a piece of seran wrap and twist it."

Kannenberg said the tornado touched down briefly, then went back into the cloud. But the brief visit was long enough to bow out her barn door. Others reported 1/4 inch-sized hail during the same storm cell.

"You don't think something like that is going to happen in Washington," said Kannenberg.

No one was hurt.

Washington averages about two weak tornadoes somewhere in the state per year.
