3 bodies found in car of missing Bhutanese refugee
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Investigators have located in the Spokane River the car believed to belong to one of three Bhutanese refugees who disappeared last month.
Officials said three bodies were found inside the car, but they have not been identified.
Dilliram Bhattarai, 28, Krishna Dhital, 21, both of Tukwila, Washington, and Krishna Dhakal, 17, of Spokane have not been heard from since June 11 when they were seen playing soccer at Mission Park.
Family members became concerned when Dhakal, a Lewis and Clark High School student, failed to show up for his final exams.
Major Crimes detectives were canvassing the neighborhood Wednesday in relation to the missing persons case when they spotted a bumper of the car with the license plate attached. They confirmed the license plate matched the missing vehicle and asked for the Spokane County Sheriff's Office to launch a helicopter in order to help locate the car in the river.
The helicopter crew spotted the car in the river downriver from the location where the bumper was found, at the three-way intersection with Boone, Hogan and South Riverton Avenue.
Sheriff's divers are examining the car, and the investigation is ongoing.
