Killed paraglider identified

ISSAQUAH, Wash. -- The King County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the paraglider who plunged to his death near Squak Mountain State Park on Sunday evening.

The man has been identified as Kenneth L. Blanchard, 53, of Renton His manner of death has been ruled accidental.

Investigators said Blanchard crashed in the 12300 block of 202nd Place SE about 7 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses told King County deputies the man was gliding on a thermal current when the glider suddenly began twisting and spinning out of control.

Medics performed CPR, but the man died at the scene.
