SEATTLE -- A 22-year-old woman was fatally shot early Tuesday morning about 30 minutes after deputies had broken up a fight in the area.

Deputies were initially called at 12:30 a.m. to the intersection of 15th Ave. SW and SW Roxbury St. to break up a fight. When they arrived, deputies talked to the group -- which included the woman -- but were told it wasn't a big deal.

Deputies left the scene but stayed in the area. About 30 minutes later, they heard gunfire and found the woman shot dead in the street.

Her friends were nearby and told deputies the shooters had ran off. They remain on the loose.

"She was a good person," said Emani Gaoteote, a friend of the victim. "I don't know who would want to hurt her."

Investigators have found shattered glass in a nearby building. They are now gathering evidence to see if it is connected.

Meanwhile, detectives have closed the area around the shooting for their investigation.
