Video: 9/11 remembered with Space Needle flag-raising

SEATTLE - Early Sunday morning, a small group of community leaders, first responders and a few of us journalists climbed the narrow staircase to the top of the Space Needle.
We were there to honor the memory of those who died 10 years ago on Sept. 11.
Bagpipes greeted us as we came out of the small hatch on the roof into the pre-dawn darkness.
Mayor Mike McGinn spoke briefly, remembering all the grief but also how we came together 10 years ago.
At exactly 5:46 a.m., the moment when the first tower was hit, a flag was raised over the Space Needle by everyone in the group. The flag was then lowered to half-staff and a moment of silence was observed.
Bagpipes played again - "Amazing Grace" this time - and the first light of dawn came over the horizon.
