Gas leaks trigger evacuations in North Seattle

SEATTLE - Four homes near Northgate have been evacuated after natural gas began leaking from two separate locations at the same in the area, fire officials said.

Residents of several other homes in the neighborhood have been told to stay inside as a precaution.

One of the leaks is in the 900 block of NE 122nd Street and the other is in the 12000 block of 8th Avenue NE, said Kyle Moore of the Seattle Fire Department.

He said a 1 1/4-inch natural gas line was somehow damaged by a water line.

Some roads have been blocked in the area until the leaks can be fixed.
