Woman attacked while jogging at Carkeek Park

SEATTLE -- Police are looking for the man who assaulted a woman while she was jogging at Carkeek Park early Monday morning.

The woman told detectives she ran past a man sitting on a bench just before 8:30 a.m. She then passed him again about 15 minutes later on her way back.

That's when the man attacked her from behind and put her in a neck hold, according to investigators. The two began to struggle, but the woman was able to free herself from the man's grip and call 911.

The man had fled by the time officers arrived. The woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The attacker is described as a Native American man in his 20s who is approximately 5-foot-8 and weighs about 250 pounds. Police said he has long black hair that goes down his back.

Anyone with information on the case or the identity of the attacker is urged to call 911 immediately. Anonymous tips are welcome.
