HYAK, Wash. -- Two people were killed in a crash on I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass, the Washington State Patrol said.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes just after 11:30 a.m. near milepost 56 which is just east of the summit, said Lt. Scott Martin with the state patrol.

Three semi trucks and two other vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred in an area where traffic was restricted to one lane due to road construction.

Martin said the two people killed were in the same passenger vehicle. He did not have any further details about what caused the crash or if there are any additional injuries.

The state patrol said the eastbound lanes of the freeway were closed but a witness says one lane of traffic was slowly getting by on the shoulder.
