Baby injured in shooting in Darrington
DARRINGTON, Wash. -- An 18-month-old boy was rushed to the hospital after being injured in a shooting on Monday evening.
It happened inside a home in the 1100 block of Riddle St. around 6:30 p.m., according to Darrington Fire Chief Dennis Fenstermaker.
Snohomish County sheriff's spokesperson Rebecca Hover said the boy's adult relatives were examining a newly-purchased gun when one person reportedly pointed the weapon at the TV and pulled the trigger. The bullet went through the TV and the wall, and into the baby's room.
The baby was struck in the face and cheek. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. It was not immediately clear whether he'd been shot or struck by shrapnel, but the boy was listed in stable condition.
No other information was immediately available, and the investigation is ongoing. No one has been arrested.
Fenstermaker initially said the injured baby is a girl, but Hover later said the injured child is a boy.
