OTHELLO, Wash. -- A pedestrian was fatally struck by a snow plow early Sunday morning, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The DOT vehicle was clearing snow off the shoulder of State Route 26 east of Othello when the person was hit just after midnight.
The person's identity and the circumstances surrounding the accident are not known.
DOT crews are trying to clear snow and ice off of major highways before the Monday morning commute. Freezing rain and heavy snow swept through Eastern Washington this weekend, slicking up the roadways.
