Missing man found cold and naked along Green River
The man is placed on a stretcher after being brought back to shore on Wednesday.
AUBURN, Wash. -- A man who spent the night cold, wet and naked on a small island in the Green River was rescued early Wednesday.

Officials said the man was rafting Tuesday night with his dog when his boat flipped and sank. He lost his phone in the water but made it to a small island in the middle of the river.

His wife reported him missing later that night, but he wasn't found until about 7 a.m. Wednesday when construction workers in the area heard him screaming for help, said King County Fire District 44 spokesman Tim Perciful.

A water rescue team helped get the man and his dog back to shore and he was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

The man told firefighters he took off his wet clothes to try to avoid hypothermia.
