TACOMA, Wash. -- Pierce County prosecutors on Monday said the woman accused of killing two fellow soldiers thought one of the victims was romantically involved with her ex-boyfriend.

Ivette Gonzalez Davila, 22, is being held without bond for investigation of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of kidnapping in the slayings of Timothy and Randi Miller.

Davila appeared in Pierce County Superior Court on Monday shackled in an orange jail jumpsuit, and said only "yes, sir" and "no, sir" to questions posed by Judge Ronald Culpepper.

Deputies on Sunday found the Millers' bodies in their Parkland home, and the couple's young child was recovered safely at Fort Lewis with Davila, who prosecutors say took the 6-month-old girl after fatally shooting the Millers on Saturday.

According to a statement of probable cause filed in Pierce County Court, Davila allegedly confessed to another soldier that she went to the Miller's home to kill Randi because she thought the woman was having an affair with Davila's ex-boyfriend. Investigators, though, said it was not known if any affair was actually taking place.

Randi was shot multiple times while in bed and her husband Timothy was killed in the shower. Davila allegedly drove to a hardware store after the shootings to purchase muriatic acid, which investigators say she poured over the two bodies in a bathtub in an attempt to dispose of them.

Court documents indicate that Davila then took the Miller's baby girl and went back to her barracks at Fort Lewis.

On Sunday another soldier spotted Davila unloading baby care supplies at the base and offered to help. According to the court documents, Davila initially said she was babysitting but eventually confessed to the soldier that she had killed the girl's parents.

That soldier contacted military police who alerted Pierce County deputies to search the Miller's home. Police also searched Davila's barracks and found a receipt for the acid, a pistol and Randi Miller's purse.

Davila has not been charged and is being held in the Pierce County Jail. She is a member of the Fort Lewis 'I' Corps and serves on the ceremonial color guard.

Both Timothy and Randi Miller served in Iraq. Their baby was not harmed and is now in the care of the state's Child Protective Services.
