Suspected serial rapist arrested in Seattle

SEATTLE -- Police say an attorney they arrested Monday night in connection with a Greenwood sexual assault is the same man accused of raping a Bellevue masseuse in August.
Police arrested 47-year-old Danford D. Grant just after 9:30 p.m. near the Carnation Massage Clinic on NW 85th Street.
A clinic employee said Grant was a repeat customer who had sexually assaulted an employee at knife point 15 days earlier. When Grant came back to the business Monday night, employees called police.
Grant ran off, but officers caught up with him a short time later.
He was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for investigation of two counts of rape.
According to Carla Iafrate of the Bellevue Police Department, Grant is also suspected in an August 28 rape inside a Bellevue massage parlor. In that case, the victim said a man came in and raped her at knife point.
"The suspect looked exactly like the sketch that our sketch artist did back in August," Iafrate said.
Grant is a litigation partner at the Seattle law firm Bailey, Grant and Onsager, and the Seattle City Attorney's Office has confirmed that he is also a former employee of its civil division.
He will make his first court appearance Wednesday at 2 p.m.

What a miserable scum bag!! Cannot get a sex without raping a woman!!! Well he sure has what is coming to him once he gets put in prison! They cannot rape HIM enough! We will see who has control then, because by the looks of it he will be someone's b*&$h!
Time will tell...but this may be the opening of a can of worms that may show that this is simply the time he 'got caught'. If it can be proven that he has a history of this, it will be sad to know that these may or may not be his only victims.
Â
I not only feel very sorry for his sexual crime victims...but also his children (If he has any kids). They are victims as well because of daddy being a sexual criminal. This will haunt them forever.
That would be 'Massage Therapist'. Â The old time use of masseuse and masseur implies more than you realize. Â In Washington State, Massage Therapists are the third largest group of healthcare, licensed professionals. Â Treat them that way, please and thanks.Â
@ETSubmariner Part of the problem may be the way journalists write. They use the term "clinic" here, which to me means a clinic staffed by licensed massage therapists who perform a real medical service, often in conjunction with physical therapy or chiropractic adjustments. But this article also refers to a massage "parlor", which sounds like the staff there are nothing more than prostitutes.
People in authoritative positions have done this before... remember the gynecologist in Federal Way responsible for raping and molesting his patients?
Wow, I can't believe he allowed "Danny Jr" to ruin so many lives including his own. Now Danny Jr will be put away for good and Danny Sr will be "the bell of the ball" as it were. Don't drop the soap Danford.
I did not realize that Danny Jr has a Danny Sr.
Â
Doubtful though that Danny Sr. will be the 'bell of the ball' with anything. More than embarrasing this Danny Sr. raised this sexual pervert. Not to say that he did not raise him well or anything like that.
Â
Just saying that the family name and the law firm as a whole will be very tarnished by the fact that one of them may soon be a convicted rapist...and sent away for a very long time. As it should be.
@My opinion is I believe that when @joefuss refers to "Danny Jr.," he is talking about Danford D. Grant's genitalia, not an actual person.Â
@My opinion is I read it 3 times before I caught on.
oooops my stupid bad again I guess!!
His law firm is impressive, and so is his resume. Kind of sad to see someone with such a lot going for him wind up in such a lot of trouble...I know, it's sad for his victims... it just seems strange that someone would get that far professionally and still get in such a lot of trouble.
You refer to this sexual pervert as a guy who has an impressive resume & law firm??? You refer to a RAPIST as a dude who got into a lot of trouble???
Â
So many posters on here cannot get the fact that rapists are control freaks who commit the most horrendous crimes against their victims, and there is something PYCHOlogically wrong with them. End of story! Why is it so hard to understand that this has nothing to do with a persons intelligence or financial status in life?
Â
This is not a case of some Mr. Intelligent fancy pants lawyer 'getting himself' into a lot of trouble!
@My opinion is Hey, I agree - this is a horrible guy. No question about that. It's just that - look at his legal background on the law group web site - on paper, at least, the guy appears to be well respected in his field, probably has a really nice home and all of the "right" social circles. But he seems to have spent too much time in seedy circles, and now of course his nice home has turned into a stinky cell and awful cell mates. He's thrown away the life that most people can only dream about....and yes, he is a horrible pervert.
@Silvia  @My opinion is 'Seedy Circles'??? You're missing the point here. Rapists are not found only in 'seedy circles'. They are everywhere, in all walks of life (doctors, lawyers, clergy) in every neighborhood. For Chrissake, have we not learned ANYTHING in the past 50 years?
@My opinion is Mmm. To me it looks like a good resume - I read most of it. Of course, maybe what he has done is typical for an attorney in his specialization. I don't know. But he has still made "partner" in this firm, which is usually no small thing...ahh, well - it'll be interesting if this firm survives or if they quietly reorganize to hide their former association with this a$$.
I just looked at the firm briefly...it stood out to me that in his 'legacy' of helping others...one was a Physical therapy practice, and worse than that one was to represent a young student who was sexually abused. And that was me just glancing at his 'glowing history'!!
@My opinion is Yeah - looks like an old Seattle law firm. The kind that handles "big" corporate cases and is in a "good" building in Seattle. Full of respectable lawyers that hobnob with all of the "right" people. This case is going to tarnish their reputation.
Silvia...I agree with every word you said. I may have to check out his website as you have suggested.
This is a little weird, like why would he return to a place 15 days after he raped an employee there? On the other hand, that police sketch is way too dead on to not feel like they got the right guy. There must be a bit more to this, but it would be hard not to bet he is the one.
@oldster70Â Something is certainly not right, and it seems he didn't frequent these places for innocent massages either.Â
Wow---already tried, convicted and sentenced, I see.
Nah Bianca...don't worry about that. This 'ex lawyer' will find a way with all of his croonie friends to drag this through the courts, have a mega team of "Dream Lawyers" who will work very hard to get this guy back on the streets, back to his cozy lifestyle, and soon it will all be over and pushed under the rug.
Â
Oh. And what about the victims? Yeah...what about them????????????
@My opinion is -- I just like to have all the evidence before I convict someone, considering several men have been wrongfully accused of rape in the past.Â
Got it. And I do understand and respect your opinion. To be honest I am quite concerned that 'because' he has so much legal help & knowledge behind him...that he may (?) be one of the one's who is actually guilty...and then because of legal loopholes and mumbo-jumbo, possibly gets away with it like nothing happened...
I DONT CARE IF HE WAS AN A ATTORNEY THERE ARE ALL KIND`S OF WAY`S TO DRESS UP. I KNOW A GUY THAT WAS RAPE BY A SEATTLE POLICE OFFICER WITH A HAND GUN. SO WHO LOOK`S LIKE WHO?
@patrick Hi. Your caps lock key appears to be broken and your apostrophe key is sporadically firing when it's not needed.
www.logitech.comÂ
@Evan @nwbackpacker You guys are too funny
The owner of the parlor detained him with Kung-Fu.... He should've been detained with KA-CHING, which is the sound of a shotgun being racked.
He is going to make a real good boy toy in the big house...
What is wrong with people today? Gave up a great career for what? I am sorry, but sex is not worth such a change in life status to go about it like that.Â
News Flash: Rape is not about sex. It is all about the control they force upon victims. To even mention that he would choose to give up a 'great career' is insulting when referring to changing his 'life status' is a very wierd way to look at this low life scum criminal...whose past lifestyle has nothing to do with the fact he is, and has been a sexual pervert, probably for a VERY long time.
@takeiteazy Rape has lttle to do w/sex - all about the Power.

Say what?
Soon to be Bailey and Onsager...
I suppose he'll claim it was all "legal research for a criminal defense case" or something. As I said elsewhere, self-control seems to have become a dirty word among some folk these days!
Sheesh! All that law school, and now he'll be practicing from the prison library or mess hall.
Â
I bet he works for Dewy, Cheatem and Howe...
+1 for a subtle reference to Car Talk while having a pic of a car
I think he will get all the action he can handle behind bars.....oh but wait he will be on the receiving end
Maybe he'll wind up with some of the perps he prosecuted for the city?
HA! How great would that be huh??? Bring on the other type of punishment!!
Seattle City Attorney's Office has confirmed that he is also a former employee...
Â
Wow, that was sure buried in the bowels of the story. Had he been a cop for 2 hours, 10 years ago, it would have been the HEADLINE.
Â
@newspuppy So true.
Â
A lawyer raping somebody? Go figure!
Not a very smart one though. I do find it funny he took off on foot what a loser.
@BocaBob I know... usually lawyers are just screwing people. This POS took it to a whole new level.
Looks "alot like the sketch"? hmmm Bet this guy pleads not guilty. This will be no slam dunk
A lawyer.
Â
Perfect..
It's just terrifying how happy and normal he looks. A reminder to be cautious with EVERYBODY, no matter how wonderful they seem. I am so, so sorry for the victims.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? The story is bizarre! Attorney? Did he skip criminal law? Returning to the location of an earlier crime? Quit pro quo: "I will not tell you are a prostitution outfit if I get to pretend play "rapist with a knife". Â " Ok, I am just shooting from the hipp ...
@Komo Dragon The term is quid pro quo....
 @k_did noted
@Komo Dragon Please refrain. The women that were raped do not need you calling them prostitutes.
@two loons I take it back. Don't want to add insult to injury ...
