UW surgeon in intensive care after Belltown attack
By KOMO Staff
SEATTLE -- A University of Washington surgeon is in serious condition after being attacked in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood last weekend, and police are asking for your help in finding the attacker.
The attack occurred Sunday morning just after 2 a.m. The doctor was walking near the corner of Third Avenue and Cedar Street with his girlfriend and two other friends. Two men approached and an argument ensued. Police say the two men threw a punch at the doctor and the doctor fell to the sidewalk, suffering a serious head injury. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center where he remained in the intensive care unit in serious condition Wednesday. This is the second person seriously injured in a Belltown attack in the past few weeks. On April 27, police say a man attacked a woman who allegedly walked in front of his car. She suffered a crushed eye socket, a broken cheek and broken jaw. The attacker remains at large in that case as well. In this most recent case, police are hoping someone witnessed the event and can provide information leading to an arrest. The person who called 911 just after 2 a.m. reported it as five men fighting in the street. Police do not have a good description of the attackers, but if you know anything, you are asked to call the Seattle Police Department. |
