Man arrested for allegedly putting dog in heated oven
LYONS, Ore. -- A Lyons man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated animal abuse for allegedly placing a Chihuahua-Pincher dog in a heated oven.
Kevin Dean Parrish, 20, was booked Monday in the Marion County Jail in lieu of $10,000.
Marion County deputies said Parrish was watching the 9-pound dog, Kudo, for his grandmother, who was out of state.
Parrish told deputies he became enraged on Friday after Kudo nipped him, so he grabbed the dog and allegedly started punching him in the head. Deputies said Parrish also admitted to trying to strangle Kudo, according to a news release from the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
Since he had already pre-heated the oven to 350 degrees to cook some enchiladas, Parrish told investigators he then decided to allegedly put the dog in the oven, deputies said.
"Parrish said he was prepared to leave him there, but he suddenly heard his brother coming into the house," the news release said.
Parrish' brother and father rescued 6-year-old Kudo, taking the dog to a veterinarian. Kudo suffered cuts and bruises, his hair was singed and three of his legs were badly burned, deputies said.
The suspects father notified deputies about the case, and they launched an investigation.
Parrish, who has no criminal record, admitted to deputies that he has anger issues and snapped when dealing with the dog.
Parrish's father is taking care of Kudo and the dog will continue receiving care at the vet clinic.
This is someone who if he has not already, will soon attack a human also. I hope some judge gives him some time in jail where I can only hope someone there is a dog lover.

 @wadroc I am so sorry for your loss!  I lost my 13 year old mutt last March - it takes awhile for that grief to lessen.  They are a family member, not 'just a dog'.  Take care.

Classic sociopathic behavior by definition. Cruelty to animals and the inability to empathize with others. The fact that he so readily admitted what he did demonstrates he simply had no regard or felt any guilt for what he did.

Ok, this is a perfect candidate for serious anger management and then sterilization should he not be able to control his "anger issues" if he can do this to a defenseless animal, I hate to even let myself think of what he could do to a child.  To bad they didnt show his picture in this story, could help to warn any potential females from dating him.

Thankfully the father and brother showed up just in time! If I were them I would have kicked his butt than called the police. Hope the poor dog will be okay and the angry kid should get some help!

So with his 'anger issues' - he would do the same thing or worse to a child. If he got nipped by a 6 year old dog, then that dog knows more about him than he thinks.
 @Elaine2 if this pooch is anything like my pooch, she only nips at a person she doesn't like. I tell people who don't know her to address her in calm, gentle tones and approach her slowly with open hands to show her you mean no harm (comes from an hard, abusive life) and when she warms up to you (fairly quickly after a pat on the head and a treat) she's fine. Be it stranger or friend, you get frustrated/angry at her she gets nippy in a hurry. Biggest lesson I've learned from her? If she don't like you, I probably should either.

What a sick disturbed individual. Unless he get some SERIOUS help and/or detained in a mental hospital, he is only going to get worse. People that harm innocent animals like that have real psychological issues.
Anger issues come out in many ways. Not only are children at risk, anyone is around him if he snaps again.

W T F is all I can say. It's not even your dog. Exactly how would you explain that to dear old Granny? "Gee whiz Grandma, I accidentally baked Kudo. I have anger issues."Â I am SO glad this man's father turned him in. We need more responsible parents like this; not the ones who say "he's a good boy, he'd never murder someone" as the kid is standing there practically holding the gun. I feel so bad for this poor little pup and I am so glad he is recovering and in the care of someone who will truly keep him safe. What a jerk. I'd like to say something else but this is an open forum.

How did I KNOW this would be the Pacific Northwest?? What is it? Lack of education? Lack of vitamin D? Â Lack of reasonable punishment for animal abuse? Â A couple in California was just sentenced for breaking the legs of their puppy.. they got jail time PLUS a $20k fine, each. Here and Oregon? very little jail time, and nothing else. Animals are not valued here... it's like the old west.
@DT He has not even had his day in court yet, maybe you should have thoroughly read the story before you so quickly commented? I am pretty sure once he goes to court, is found guilty and receives his sentence, then it will be reasonable to comment. Until then, get of your soap box and shut up.

Put him in the oven. Punishments in our country aren't harsh enough.
This boy needs to be punished a lot more than what he's going to get from the current animal cruelty laws. THEN he needs to be taken to the nearest hospital and made so that he never has kids of his own. THEN he should be tattooed "I burn small dogs and might do the same to small children" on his chest.

May the rescuing brother/father be blessed and the suspect choke to death on his stinkin' enchiladas and may the dog-owner use better judgement in choosing a pet-sitter. Kudo may have issues from now on, be prepared to understand and deal with it.

Reading stuff like this almost makes you wish torture was a legal form of punishment. Eye for an eye comes to mind. Punch him in the face a few times and throw him into a giant oven for a while.
