Police seek public's help in nailing Puyallup groper

PUYALLUP - Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man suspected of groping at least six women in the Puyallup area.

Officers believe the same man is responsible for all of the incidents, which are considered sexually motivated assaults.

The first two assaults took place in September in the Meridian Pointe apartment complex. There were no more known incidents until earlier this month, when four more reports were made to Puyallup officers.

In all of the assaults, the man has approached women walking and grabbed either their buttocks or their genital area.

The groper is described as a white non-Hispanic male in his early 20s between 5-feet-7 and 6-feet-1 with a short, military style haircut and possibly a thin mustache. He is usually wearing a black or dark blue hoody with the hood up and dark pants or jeans.

In the first two incidents last September, the suspect approached women from behind and grabbed their buttocks as they were reaching into their vehicles.

Two of this month's incidents occurred in the Meridian Pointe apartment complex and the other two on Meridian.

In most instances the woman was walking alone when the suspect approached them and grabbed at them then ran away.

All incidents have occurred between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 5:20 a.m., with the majority between 9:30 p.m. and midnight.

Anyone who can identify this individual or anyone who may have been a victim of this type of assault and has not yet reported it is asked to call the Puyallup Police Department at 253-435-3613.
