2 killed in crash near Lynden

NEAR LYNDEN, Wash. -- Two people were killed in a crash six miles west of Lynden late Wednesday afternoon.

According to Trooper Keith Leary, a car headed west on Badger Road lost control on a downhill curve near Sunrise Road. The car crossed the center line and was broadsided by an oncoming car at approximately 5 p.m.

The driver and a passenger in the causing vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver sustained minor injuries.

Leary said an alcohol container was found inside the car of the fatal victims, and troopers are working to determine whether alcohol played a role in the crash. The area saw wet and windy conditions at the time of the crash, Leary said.

The identities of the deceased victims have not been released.
